UWC Condemns the Violence Against the Citizens of Belarus

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) condemns the violence against the citizens of Belarus and appeals to the Belarusian authorities to respect the fundamental human rights and the will of its citizens.
Ukrainians worldwide stand with the people of Belarus as they courageously defend their right for democratic free and transparent elections. “We are deeply troubled by reports of election fraud, suppression of civil society and independent journalism, repressions and violence against peaceful protesters,” stated UWC President Paul Grod.

Holodomor Monument Commemorating The 50th Anniversary

One of the most heinous crimes in recent history is the Ukrainian famine and genocide, the result of a systematic totalitarian political scheme for killing millions of Ukrainians and even Ukrainian Mennonites in the early 1930s by starving an area once known as Europe’s breadbasket.The monument has an inscription in English, French, and Ukrainian which reminds us that we must be careful to see that these tragedies will not happen again and that these horrors should never be forgotten again.

The UCC-MPC Project CARE

The UCC-MPC Project CARE will supply 500 Self-Care Kits and deliver them to the Ukrainian Canadian Senior community members who are living independently.

The Self-Care Kit consists of a reusable face mask, one alcohol-based hand sanitiser and one package of anti-bacterial hand wipes to be used as precautionary measures to help stop the spread of the virus. Also included in the Self-Care Kit is an information sheet that provides instructions on how to effectively use the products provided. Additional Self-Care items include hand lotion and dental kits as well as other items.

“The Holodomor – the Soviet Communist regime’s genocide against the Ukrainian people, in which millions of innocent people were murdered – was covered up and denied by Soviet authorities for decades,” stated Irene Mycak, Chair of the UCC National Holodomor Awareness Committee. “Please join this campaign to assist us in informing the world about this act of genocide. Through awareness and education, we ensure that such crimes are never repeated.”

Доповідачами були особи, які приїхали в Канаду в умовах карантину (Covid-19); саме вони і ділилися особистим досвідом та проблемами які супроводжували їх під час перших тижнів у Канаді.

Новоприбулі українці обговорювали легальні і безпечні шляхи перевезення коштів з України в Канаду, а також їх досвід відкиття банківських рахунків та кредитних карток після ізоляції в Канаді. Основне пам’ятати про певні обмеження вивозу коштів з України та ввезення в Канаду.

The Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine

The Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Акт проголошення незалежності України) was received by the Ukrainian parliament on 24 August 1991. The Act re-established Ukraine’s state independence. The act was introduced in the aftermath of the 19 August coup attempt, when hardline Soviet Union Communist leaders sought to regain central Communist Party control over the USSR.

In response (within a stressful 11-hour extraordinary session), the Supreme Soviet (parliament) of the Ukrainian SSR, overwhelmingly approved the Declaration Act in a special Saturday session.

Ukrainian Courses in remote learning format 2020-2021

The Ukrainian program at the University of Manitoba offers undergraduate and graduate (MA) classes in language, literature and culture. The Department specializes in modern Ukrainian literature (from 1798 until the present day), but it also teaches earlier periods and folklore. The literature of the Ukrainian diaspora is also represented.
