The UCC-MPC Project CARE
The UCC-MPC Project CARE will supply 500 Self-Care Kits and deliver them to the Ukrainian Canadian Senior community members who are living independently.
The Self-Care Kit consists of a reusable face mask, one alcohol-based hand sanitiser and one package of anti-bacterial hand wipes to be used as precautionary measures to help stop the spread of the virus. Also included in the Self-Care Kit is an information sheet that provides instructions on how to effectively use the products provided. Additional Self-Care items include hand lotion and dental kits as well as other items.
Groups or individuals who like to donate in support of Project Care are encouraged to contact the UCC-MPC at communications@uccmb.ca to get information on how to proceed. At this time, special masks are being sold as part of the fundraising campaign.
On Monday 20 July, at the Ukrainian National Federation hall in Winnipeg, the kits were presented to the public in the presence of Metropolitans Yurij (Ukr Orthodox Church of Canada) and Lawrence (Ukrainian Catholic Church of Canada) and invited guests.
Project CARE is led by Dr. Roman Yereniuk, Beverly Stepaniuk and Maryka Chabluk.
UCC-MPC is grateful to many youth volunteers who contributed to the preparation of the kits. This include young community members from SUMK – Ukrainian Orthodox Youth, Rusalka UNF School of Dance and Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble.
