Reports on aid given to Ukraine Допомога Україні

UCC-MPC through its Euromaidan Committee has been sending money raised through various fundraising campaigns to those injured on the Maidan this past winter. Now, we have begun helping wounded soldiers with their recovery and with warm clothing for the winter. Below are reports from those that have received aid from Manitobans through UCC-MPC.

Container of medical supplies sent to Ukraine by UCC-MPC

The Euromaidan Committee of the UCC-MPC has made a donation to the Hero’s Companion – Друг Героя program, a not-for-profit project focused on harnessing the power of the centuries old human-canine bond to heal the invisible wounds left behind by war.

 With this goal in mind, the project is aimed at training service dogs for veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and volunteer battalions. Our donation has been enough to sponsor one team. 

UCC-MPC sends container of Aid to Ukraine

On Saturday June 11, 2016 UCC-MPC Euromaidan Committee met its commitment of sending a container of medical equipment to Ukraine. The container was filled with mostly fully functioning modern hospital beds, which had been obtained and refurbished by International Hope Canada. The container made its way to Toronto. While in there, volunteers were able to add a number of additional high value items including 5 electronic patient lifters, 16 mattresses and a number of boxes full of medical supplies. One photograph shows how the container looked leaving Winnipeg, and then how it looked before it got sealed and sent.

Thanks to all volunteers that helped, to our donors, to International Hope Canada, and the professional transport people who will ensure that this valuable assistance makes it Ukraine!

 
The shipping costs for the container are being covered by the UCC-MPC Euromaidan Committee. Anyone wishing to donate funds to help defray the shipping costs, can send a cheque made out to UCC-MPC to 777 Pritchard Avenue, Winnipeg R2X 0E8 with “Container for Ukraine” in the memo line.
